올해로 70회를 맞는 에미상(Emmys 2018) 시상식이 금주 월요일(17일, 미 서부 현지 시간) 로스앤젤레스 마이크로소프트 극장(Microsoft Theater)에서 거행됐다.

올해 에미상은 대부분이 사람들이 예상했던 것처럼 ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Westworld’, ‘The Handmaid's Tale’이 가장 많은 각 부분 상을 차지했다.

에미상은 지난 1949년, 미국텔레비전예술과학아카데미(Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. ATAS)가 미국 TV 프로그램을 위해 창설한 시상으로 프라임타임 에미상, 주간(데이타임) 에미상, 로스앤젤레스 지역 에미상, 국제 에미상 등이 있다. 메인 시상인 ‘프라임타임 에미상’은 매년 9월 LA에서 발표된다. 영화 부문의 아카데미(Academy Awards), 연극 부문의 토니(Tony Awards), 음악 부문의 그래미(Grammy Awards)와 함께 미국 예술계 최대 시상식으로 꼽힌다.
