미 캘리포니아 글렌데일의 평화의 소녀상 앞에서 故 곽예남 할머니 추모제가 열린다.
가주한미포럼(대표 김현정)은 오는 9일 평화의 소녀상 앞에서 2019 세계여성의 날 기념식과 함께 고 곽예남 할머니의 추모제를 갖는다고 밝혔다;
가주한미포럼은 “세계여성의 날을 맞아 음악과 시, 그리고 ‘침묵을 깨는 여성들’의 이야기를 함께 하는 시간을 준비하던 중 전남 담양에 사시던 곽예남 할머니께서 뱔세(別世)하셨다는 비보(悲報)를 들었다”며 “안타까운 마음을 금할 수 없어 이번 행사중에 곽예남 할머니를 추모하는 순서를 갖기로 했다”고 전했다.
가주한미포럼은 “이날 기념식에서는 현재 유네스코 세계기록유산 프로그램에 계류중인 "위안부의 목소리" 자료 등재를 촉구하는 비디오 촬영이 있을 예정이다”라며
감현정 대표는 “참가하는 분들이 ‘위안부의 목소리’ 자료 등재가 왜 필요하다고 생각하는지 한마디씩 준비해 오시면 좋겠다. 아이들에게 훌륭한 교육의 기회가 될 것이다”라고 말했다.

Yet, we heard a very sad news from Korea.
Grandma Kwak, Ye-nam (94) just passed away in Damyang in South Korea.
We will have a moment of silence in memory of Grandma Kwak during the event.
Also, we will raise our voice to urge UNESCO to nominate the "Voices of the 'Comfort Women'" documents into the Memory of the World Programme, which is being delayed indefinitely due to Japan's pressure to stymie the nomination.
We will create a video clip to deliver our voice - please be prepared to say a word why you support the nomination!
Event is free and open to the public!
