호주 최고 권위의 방송대상인 ‘로지 어워드’(The Logie Awards - 공식 명칭은 TV Week Logie Awards)에서 ABC 방송의 TV 쇼 'Hard Quiz' 진행자인 톰 글리슨(Tom Gleeson)씨가 최고 영예인 2019년 Gold Logie(The Gold Logie for most popular personality on Australian TV)를 차지했다.

‘The Logie Awards’를 주관하는 <TV Week>는 지난 6월30일(일) 저녁 골드코스트의 브로드비치(Broadbeach) 소재 ‘The Star Gold Coast’에서 시상식을 갖고 19개 각 부분 수상자 및 수상 작품을 발표했다.

The Logie Awards는 지난 1959년부터 호주 TV 프로그램을 소개하는 주간 매거진 <TV Week>가 주관해온, 호주 최고 권위의 방송 대상이다. ‘로지 어워드’는 올해의 ‘Gold Logie’를 비롯해 배우, 방송 진행자, 방송 작품상 등이 있으며, 각 부문 수상자 및 작품은 시청자 및 방송관련 업계 관계자를 대상으로 한 투표를 통해 선정한다.

ABC 방송이 호주 방송대상에서 최고 영예인 ‘골드 로지’를 수상한 것은, 1976년 TV 풍자극 ‘Norman Gunston’에서 주인공 노만 건스톤을 연기한 배우이자 코미디언 게리 맥도날드(Garry McDonald) 이후 처음이다.

이날 시상식에서 글리슨은 “이 상은 방송 종사자들에게 많은 것을 의미하며, 그 때문에 이 시상식이 계속 이어져 왔다”며 “방송 각 분야의 많은 이들을 위해 큰일을 담당하고 있다”고 말했다.

한편 ABC 방송 베테랑 저널리스트로 뉴스 프로그램인 ‘7.30’, 시사 프로그램 ‘Four Corners’ 취재를 맡아온 원로기자 케리 오브라이언(Kerry O'Brien)씨는 언론인으로 명예의 전당(Hall of Fame)에 이름을 올렸다.

 

올해 ‘The Logie Awards’에서 ‘Most popular drama program’을 차지한 ‘Mystery Road’의 주인공 주디 데이비스(Judy Davis)와 아론 페더슨(Aaron Pedersen).

-1959년 : TV 프로그램을 소개하는 주간 매거진 <TV Week>가 ‘Star of the Year Awards’ 개최

-1960년 : 첫해 ‘Star of the Year Award’ 수상자인 그레이엄 케네디(Graham Kennedy)의 제안으로 영국 텔레비전 발명자인 존 로지 베어드(John Logie Baird)를 기리고자 ‘로지 어워드’(Logie Awards)로 시상식으로 명칭 변경

-1961년 : 국영 ABC 방송에서 처음으로 시상식이 중계됨

-1962년 : 7 Network의 드라마 시리즈 ‘Shirley Gilroy on A Country Practice’에서 열연한 가수이자 방송 진행자, 배우인 로레이 데스몬드(Lorrae Desmond)가 음악 프로그램 ‘The Lorrae Desmond Show’의 인기 진행에 힘입어 여성으로서는 처음으로 최고 영예인 ‘Gold Logie’ 수상
